Everything about Lake Hartwell totally explained

Lake Hartwell is an artificial lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo, and Seneca Rivers. The lake is created by Hartwell Dam located on the Savannah River seven miles below the point at which the Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers join to form the Savannah. Extending 49 miles up the Tugaloo and 45 miles up the Seneca at normal pool elevation, The lake comprises nearly 56,000 acres (230 km²) of water with a shoreline of 962 miles. The entire Hartwell “Project” contains 76,450 acres (309 km²) of land and water. I-85 bisects Hartwell Lake and makes the area easily accessible to visitors.
   Lake Hartwell is named for the American Revolutionary War figure Nancy Hart.

2008 Bassmasters Classic

Lake Hartwell hosts the 2008 Bassmasters Classic from Friday, February 22 to Sunday, February 24, 2008. The Feb. 22 edition of Mike and Mike in the Morning was hosted on the shores of Lake Hartwell at Portman Shoals Marina, located about 3 miles from I-85 at SC exit 14.
